Op Shop Show and Tell #7

Hi thrifty friends!  I have to say that it hasn't really been a winning week (in thrift land).  For the first time my local Vinnies didn't come up with the goods.  Or, all the goods have already been bought.  It was sooo busy when I went.  Racks were empty and people hunting for treasures everywhere!

I came out with two little finds, and spied some vintage goodness that hopefully some lucky person went home with.

The Australian classic, The Magic Pudding was $2.00 and in perfect condition.  It smells like the books of my childhood, takes me back to bedtime stories instantly!

Pink, neon and gold bangle for $4.00.  I am seeing this colour everywhere at the moment.  Will be on high rotation in spring.

This red, vintage beauty case was $12.00 and was in pretty good condition.  I hope it went to a happy home!

And this lamp.  Oh it was retro-tastic!  It was $20.00.  In hindsight should have snagged it up cause when hubby saw the photo he said he would have loved it for his bedside table.  I'm sure it was gone within minutes of me leaving.

Hope I have more luck next week!  Am linking up here with Sophie from Her Library Adventures and here with Liz at the Blue Eyed Owl.  There were SO many amazing finds last week.  Can't wait to have a look at all the new treasures this week.

Op Shop Show and Tell #6

It was another good week for op shop goodness!!  I got to go on a little thrifting adventure with my sis before she headed home for the holidays.
I really need to venture out to other op-shops, but our local Vinnies (Sutherland) always comes up with the goods!

This polka-dot shirt was $8.00.  It is made of the softest cotton.  It has already become a fast favourite!

This gold, sequined cardi was $8.00 too.  When is a little sparkle not a great thing!

And....another book for the Bug.  A beautiful version of Winnie the Pooh.  I have to be honest, I'm really not a fan of the Disney version of Winnie and his friends (although Gus loves the movies)  But I really love the story and illustrations of the original book.  I think this was $4.00.

I honestly can't wait to read Gus all the books I used to love as a child. To see his little face light up when we read his favourite stories.  And, there will always be room for a classic!

Do you shop at the same thrift/op-shop stores or do you mix it up?  Would love to know.

Op Shop Show and Tell #5

The other night I was scrolling through my bloglovin app in bed and was soo excited when I saw my little post about my op shop finds featured here on Liz's blog The Blue Eyed Owl.  This is one of my absolute favourite blogs.  Liz seems to have the magic touch when it comes to thrifting!

So, here are my latest finds.  Love when you walk into your local oppie with kinda low expectations and come out with treasures!
Makes me happy!

Absolutely in love with this vintage dress! Love the pattern, love the colours, love the cut.  Love, Love, Love.

This jar for $3.00.  I'm hoping to find a whole lot of mismatched jars to put all our baking needs in them.  Maybe some cute floral labels too.

The Muddleheaded Wombat. $2.00.  Not only do I love this book for the illustrations and story, but my family had this exact book when I was growing up.  I think it is so great that I get to share this Aussie classic with my bubba boy.

The weather here in Sydney has been blah to say the least, So I'm hoping to head out to do some treasure hunting when the sun comes back.

I'm linking up here with Liz, and here with Sophie.  Lots of new blogs to explore and thrifted treasures to fall in love with.

Op Shop Show and Tell #4

I've been a bit absent from the blog over the last few weeks, but thought I would start back up again with a few of my finds from my latest thrifty adventures.
I really am a fan of our local Vinnies!  Never come out empty handed and they always have new stuff to hunt through.

I got this sweet blouse for $6.00.  I love the geometric print!

This Basque blouse I got for $8.00.  I have already worn it so many times!

This Sunny Girl Leopard print coat was also $8.00.  Love me a bit of leopard!

These though......I think they are my favourite finds so far!  Original 1963 Enid Blyton story books.

Look at that cover!!  The stories are so sweet and oh so 1960s.

I love building Gus's story book collection with both vintage and new.  These books might be for a bit later, but that doesn't mean that I can't enjoy them now, right?

I'm linking up here with Sophie from Her Library Adventures.  Lots of thrifty goodness every single week!

Have you found any treasures lately?

What Angus is reading.......

What Angus is reading.......

Well, technically I'm reading them to him....but the Gusbug LOVES his books!!! And I love this fact because I have always, always been a book worm.  He has received so many books from family and friends and it is so great to sit with him and watch him pour over the colourful illustrations as I read him the stories I heard and then read so often when I was little.  I hope his love for books continue, then we can be nerdy book worms together!!

And this is my book wish list for Gus.....THIS IS.
I saw a couple of these covers on Pinterest and I fell in love.  As I have said before on the blog, I am a sucker for vintage illustrations....but these books by Miroslav Sasek take the CAKE!! And they are informative. Oh and the 'This is Australia' was written in the early 70s and I am dying to see vintage illustrations of a 1970s Oz.  These are my top 6 Sasek picks.  I'm ordering them ASAP.

You can buy all 'This is' books 1,2,3,4,5,6, here

Do you have a favourite kids book from your childhood?
