New York here we come!

New York here we come

Hello neglected old thing!  I have missed you so.  Unfortunately life and work takes over around the christmas period.  We are only just getting back into the swing of things with bedtime routines, dinners before 9pm and days off as a family.

So, just a bit excited that the final countdown is on.  13 days till we hop on a jet plane and fly to NEW YORK CITY!!!!  It has finally hit me after months of planning and dreaming!
Now it is just a matter of packing our bags, making sure we have our Passports and the three of us are off on our amazing adventure!

Speaking of packing, above is what I have bought so far to get ready for our grand holiday.
We are going from 30 degrees to 3 degrees.  3 degrees people!  How are we going to cope?  With a warm puffa jacket, fur lined boots and some gloves of course.  No snow or wind is going to stop us exploring the City that never sleeps.

So Leather Gloves from ASOS.  They fit (excuse the pun) like a glove and are both warm and stylish.  Grey knitted Snood also from ASOS.  It is so soft and fluffy and was an absolute steal.  Cross Body Bag from the one and only Oroton.  I have been eyeing off this bag for months.  I wanted a bag I could just throw on, not have to lug around but be able to carry all of our stuff.  It is perfect, smells amazing and goes with absolutely everything.
Man Style Shirt from Country Road.  Can you believe I got it for $19?  It is so beautifully cut and has just the right amount of length to wear under sweaters.
Travel Notes Notebook from Kikki K.  I got this for a gift for Christmas.  You can plan and document your whole holiday and future adventures in this little book, and of course it's easy on the eye.  Fur Lined Boots from Boohoo.  My toes are going to be sooo warm and hopefully I'll be able to walk and walk cause they are totally comfy.
My hero piece, The Puffa Jacket is Bellfield from ASOS.  I love love love it.  You cannot even put it on in 30 degree weather it is that warm.

I know that I should be doing all of my shopping in New York but being able to buy a few things has made the trip seem real and adds to the excitement level.
Plus I just love shopping.

Have you ever been to New York, or any other parts of the U.S?  I would love any packing or travelling tips or great place to go visit or eat?

FIVE UNDER $50 - the slogan tee

FIVE UNDER $50 - SLOGAN TEES

I have been starting to think a bit about spring and what I need to update my wardrobe for that trans seasonal period where it is a little bit cold for just a tee but a long sleeve tee and cardigan, jacket etc is too much.
I've rediscovered the slogan tee.  Yeah it's been around for a while but I have a feeling it is going to be one of the key pieces of the coming season, I'm having that feeling mostly because they are everywhere!
Trend items can be tricky.  I'm of the 'spend money on investment pieces' side of the bridge, so something that is just going to do me for a season or two will have a little less money thrown at it.   Above are the tees that have caught my eye recently and they are all under fifty dollars! (number 4 is $8!)  I like that they aren't blaring with the slogan, they are like a subtle nod.  I'll be wearing these tees with a feminine midi length circle skirt, but boyfriend it up with a denim jacket and chucks, or relaxed printed pants (probably black) and go head to toe monochrome with tee number one.

You can get the tees here.  One, Two, Three, Four, Five.
What are you thinking of trying for spring?  Would love to know so maybe I can try it too!

Lovin' Basics!

Lovin Basics

As you can tell from the pic above, I have kinda a thing for Black, White and stripes.
My fashion sensibilities have changed somewhat after becoming a mumma, and I guess since I'm getting older too. (32 at the end of the year! I know! How will I cope?)

I used to be a total trend fiend! Jumping from one to the next like it was going out of fashion (Ha!)  But then my body changed a bit, and I just don't think that a nearly 32 year old can pull off neon shorty shorts and a crop top!

I'm all about the basics these days.  A good stripe, a good cut and some comfy denim.  I usually pair these with my chucks or a pair of coloured thongs.
The ones above have been my latest purchases.  From Glassons and Cotton On. I couldn't go past the combo of stripes and unarranged letters, and those Jeans, Oh so comfy and under $40!

Where do you go for your basics? Do you go for Quality over Quantity?

P.S - I get to be a fashion stylist every day for a certain 2 year old anyway!

Loving, wanting, reading, dreaming

Loving, wanting, reading, dreaming

Loving: My brand spanking new Michael Kors Watch! I had been eyeing off this beauty for a very, very long time and well that husband of mine, he spoils me so!

Wanting: Chambray Utility Pants from the one and only Country Road.  What is not to love?  Slouchy? check.  Chambray? check.  Country Road? check.

Reading: Grace, a memoir by the inspirational Grace Coddington.   I'm only into the first few pages and already I'm hooked.

Dreaming:  The new link bracelet from Oroton.  I dream of this and my watch becoming fast friends on my wrist.  Isn't it just divine?

What's on your wish list this week?  Would love to know!

P.S - This post isn't sponsored, I just work for them :)

hello lover!

hello lover

Yup, a whole post dedicated to my new boots!!  These babies were delivered to me on Wednesday morning by a grumpy Australia Post Guy.  Just that new shoe smell was enough to brighten my day when I was already late for work, had a sick toddler attached to me (and therefore hardly any sleep the night before)

I think they are just about the perfect ankle boot!  Cool stud detail, buckles in just the right places and that wooden heel!  Love. And the price? I mean who could pass that up!

I can't wait to pair them with my leather leggings, or stove pipe skinnies and some warm slouchy knits!

I love winter!!! (mostly the fashion, not so much the constant rain)

What has been your favourite winter buy so far?

Last Friday

I heart sales

I had the BEST day on Friday!  It was just me.  Gus was at Preschool, Husband at work.
Me.  Well I had the day off.  So I took myself to the Fair (Westfield Miranda) and shopped the sales.  And I came up trumps!

Gosh it was nice to walk around the shops, coffee in hand and browse at my own leisure.  No juice bottles to pick up from under a rack, or running after a certain little someone.

So this is what I scored:

1. Sweater from Forever New.  Got it for $29.  Was $59.  Yay! Have already worn it today with skinny green cargos from Mambo and my white chucks.

2. Knit from Sportsgirl. again $29.  Was $59.  Can't wait to pair this with my leather leggings and my wedge sneakers.

3. His and Hers to do list from Sussan.  $6.97.  Was $14.95.  Adding a bit of retro to our fridge.  Just for funsies.

4. Leo baseball tee from Cotton On Kids.  Walked out with this and No.5 for a 2 for $20 deal!

5. Dino baseball tee from Cotton On Kids.  Gus's favourite animal is the 'Dinosaur Raww'
I couldn't leave this cute tee behind.

So for under $100 i came home with a swag of stuff!  I always feel like I have really accomplished something when I have scored a bargain.

There are so many great sales on at the moment.  I could have bought Country Road's whole winter collection with a lot of styles at 50% off.  (There is always this weekend!)

Where do you shop for a bargain?  Online, at the local oppie or just the shopping centre? Would love to hear your shopping secrets :)

Easy as A B C

A B C

Just thought I would share some of the cute things I found for Gus while browsing some of my favourite online stores today.

A is for this crazy cute Letterman sweater from Cotton On Kids.
B is for these amazing jeans and BRACES :) also from Cotton on Kids.  ( They are on a roll this Winter for little boys fashion)
and C is for the Chambray Shirt I got for a steal ($16) from Charlie & Me.  (P.S Charlie & Me has a 20% off flash sale this weekend!)

I have had such a great day hanging with my little man, playing Lego and watching 'Wreck it Ralph'.  Love me a day off during the week!

A is also for Anzac Day.  I have been feeling just a little solemn all day and thinking of all those who fought, lost their lives or a still fighting for this Amazing country of ours.

Lest We Forget.

A FEW OF GUS'S (MY) FAVOURITE THINGS.

A million years ago it seems, when I first found out we were having a boy, the only disappointment I felt (every other part of my was jumping for joy!) was that I was going to miss out on the never ending choice and cuteness that is little girls fashion.

Well, you know what?  After nearly 2 years of dressing my little dude I can safely say that dressing a boy is AWESOME!!!  No, there aren't the trillions of colour choices of little frilly leggings and dresses and headbands. Instead I have realised that  Boys clothes are cool and funky and edgy.

I have really enjoyed shopping for Gus in preparation for Winter and thought that I would share some of my favourite finds so far.  And they are all cheap and cheerful!

One: Moustache print Sweatshirt from Mango.  (Best and Less)  An amazing $8.00.

Two: Sock Monkey Beanie and Glove set from Kmart.  $9.00.  Oh my goodness Gus just looks the cutest in this!

Three:  Elroy Jetson Print Sweat from Cotton ON Kids. $29.92.  A bit pricier but I just couldn't go past the print and colour.  Plus Elroy was always my favourite on the Jetsons!

Four:  Print Leggings from Bonds. (Big W) $13.92.  I can't wait to pair these with a vintage tee and his high top connies.

Five:  Green High Top Converse $40 (from the Converse Store at Birkenhead Point).  I know, a lot to spend on kid's shoes when they grow out of them in seconds, but these were on special and they are high tops and Converse.  I know it is all about the moccasin these days, but give me an all star any day!

What have been some of your favourite finds for your littles?  I would love to know!

First spring buys

I don't know if it's cause I work in fashion, but I always get so excited when a new season starts.  New colours, new styles.....New, new, new.
I go back to work full time in just a few short weeks, so these are some of the items I will be treating myself to.

first spring buys

1.  I already have the jeans.  Mine are the Levi boyfriend jean but you can find similar here.

2.  This baseball tee.  I have seen this tee in Sportsgirl already, and it is super soft and the yellow and grey marle are totally on trend for spring.

3.  The 1938 Barrel Bag by Oroton.  This is an investment, but my hubby said I could get a new Oroton bag when I went back to work, and this is THE bag I have been lusting after.
It's classic, timeless and will last forever.

4.  I need a new pair of glasses.  My Prada ones are begining to show the wounds of a certain one year old's teeth.  These Chanel ones are black, classic and Chanel quilted.  They're perfect.

5.  The Michael Kors watch.  I have been loving this beauty from afar for quite some time.  This will be my welcome back to the work force present.

6.  A new pair of Chuck Taylors.  Converse will always be my go to casual shoe. White will be fresh for spring, and they look great with boyfriend jeans!

I can't wait to go shopping! It's been far to long!

What are some of your must-haves for spring? Would love to see your wish lists.

Op Shop Show and Tell #1

I LOVE looking for op shop treasures! It is one of my favourite ways to spend a day.  Taking a walk down to my local Vinnies with Gus, my partner in op shop crime my sister, Astrid, and a large coffee.  We can spend hours trawling through the racks, oohing and ahhing over the kitchy brick a brack, and wanting to take home half of the furniture section.  Since I do this on a regular basis I thought that I would show you some of my recent finds....

A collection of books for the Gusbug. Total cost $6.00

4 Paddington Bear Books.  I loved Paddington when I was little.  Hope to pass on the love to Gus!

'The little red Caboose' Golden Book.  I'm an absolute sucker for the amazing illustrations in vintage Golden Books.

And the Australian Classic, Possum Magic. Every Aussie Kid has to have this book in their collection.

This beauty of a side plate for $2.00.  I love the navy, gold and green detail.  Should just look at it, but have used it many a time to eat a little something off it.

Closer detail of my pretty plate.

And this cute shirt for $5.00.  It has a cute ruffle detail and I have worn it so many times already.

So grand total: $13.00!! What a steal!
Can't wait to unearth my next set of treasures!

Do you love a bit of a op shopping?  What have been your latest finds?

Dreaming of Mint

Dreaming of Mint

I have never been into pastels.  Too girly for my liking.  I'm more of an earthy colour girl.  But then I was introduced to the mint skinny jean.....and I am in love!

I don't own a pair.  I have put myself on a self shopping ban until I get back to my pre baby weight (slowly but surely it is coming off)  So until then I will dream of mint, and it will be all the sweeter!

1. Jeans here
2. Tank here
3. Chambray Shirt here
4. Bag here
5. Cuff here
6. Ballet Flats here
7. Cuff here
8. Watch here

What I wore today

What I wore today. Everything under $100

So, this is what I wore today.  Nautical stripes are a staple in my wardrobe. I have shirts, tees and dresses, but this simple body hugger from JayJays is a new find and I'm sure will be one of my favourites for this Autumn and Winter.  The watch and glasses are my everydays and the loafers were a steal from rubi shoes and oh so comfy!
Under $70 for an outfit! You can't go wrong!!
Have you found an absolute steal lately?

New Year, New Looks

2012 is the year that I get healthy, get fit and get back into fashion! Last year was spent in either maxi dresses or leggings and billowing tops to cater for my growing bump. (now 7 month old cutie Gus) I feel like I totally missed the boat fashion wise over the last year and a half. And, as my job used to be centred around fashion, and merchandising on a daily basis, I really feel that I need to inject some style into my lacking, but still bursting at the seams wardrobe.

So.....I have set my self a task.  I want to find on trend fashion, and classic basics.  And everything has to be under $100.

This is my first find, the kimono jacket. On trend for winter, and a great trans-seasonal piece, especially in the delightful weather that Sydney is having at the moment.

Kimono Jacket here, Boyfriend Jeans here, Loafers here, Bag here
Pair with a pair of boyfriend Jeans, a simple white singlet and some grey slip ons and your good to go!
What are some of your favourite new fashion finds?
